Hello Pack 372!!!

Well, we finished another year and we had a most successful advancement ceremony.  You should be proud of your boys for all their hard work and success with their past scouting levels.  The next level should be more fun and challenging and provide many learning skills.  Our summer activities offer a lot of opportunities for our boys to fill in their book requirements also (i.e., day camp, family camp, our campouts, and your den activities to name only a few).  Remember the Summertime Award!!!!

I would like to thank all our adults who have stepped up and helped to make this year so successful.  I hope we can continue to count on your help and support, both new and seasoned adults.  Please remember you can be as active as your schedule allows.  So if you would like to learn more about assisting our other adults, please ask!  It is also my pleasure to announce that we raised a little over $585.00 for Friends of Scouting.  So please accept my heartfelt thanks to all who were able to donate.

Remember to check our calendar for upcoming events, hikes, campouts, and all the other fun things we have planned for the summer.  Our boys will be experiencing new and maybe sometimes difficult tasks.  But that is where the best learning comes from.  They should continue to develop those skills to be better scouts and better citizens in our community.  If I may quote from the Scoutmaster's book:

"It dosen't matter how many times you fall down as long as you get back up each time.  The ability to get back up is called persistence.  Those who learn to make persistence a part of their character will eventually succeed, while those who don't simply won't.  Failure is not falling down, but staying down.  Every time you get back up, you haven't failed.  Every time you make one more try, or give it one more effort, you haven't failed."

So have a great and safe summer and I hope to see everyone at our up-coming events!

Yours In Scouting

Frank

Hello Pack 372,

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that our scouts will be advancing to the next rank at our Pack meeting at Camp Sullivan on the 21st.  Please make sure you have their neckerchief, slide, hat and book (if possible) so we can get them working toward their next level.  One of the many things we will be doing is showing the boys how to properly retire a flag.

We will have a guest Friday evening from council, who will be helping me with the last month to collect for Friends of Scouting.  This is always an important time for our Pack and council.  Understanding the difficult times of our economy, we hope you will consider donating what you can.  The money we collect helps support the training we have access to on the National web cite, Camp Betz, and the many programs council offers throughout the year.

Also, we will be doing a uniform inspection Friday before we begin our advancements.  So please make sure your boys are ready.  I look forward to seeing everyone and our first campout of the year.

Yours In Scouting,

Frank

Hello Pack 372!

I would like to take this time to tell you about how proud I am to have the opportunity to be the new Pack 372 Cubmaster.   From my experience, Pack 372 has been going strong since 1999 when I joined with my oldest son Jeff, who is now on the verge of becoming an Eagle Scout in Troop 318.  We have always had a large group of exciting and eager boys looking to have fun while learning outdoor, camping, crafting and many other skills.  In fact, there was one year that our number of boys exceeded 100.  If you think our meetings get loud now, you should have been there at that time.

What’s even more exciting is that Scouting is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year.  Many Council and Pack opportunities will include once in a life-time chances to earn special patches and awards because of this special occasion.  I hope you and your boys can take the TIME to enjoy, earn, and learn from these programs, with a special emphasis on TIME.  It goes by very fast, because before you know it, you too will be choosing a Boy Scout Troop to move ahead as your Scout grows.   In Boy Scouting, your sons will continue to work on skills and merit badges, but your time with them decreases as they get older.  They spend more time with fellow scouts and less time with you.  They suddenly mature in a flash moment, which is a proud, but also a sad moment.  So please, take the time when you can to enjoy them now!

Hello Pack 372 !

I am looking forward to an exciting pack meeting this evening (4-16-10) and would like to remind all parents that we are looking for co-leaders to trail our current leaders.  The purpose would be to begin learning what is required of each of the adult volunteer positions that help make the pack run smoothly and successfully.  Also, I have a copy of the scouting manual that identifies and lists the responsibilites for each position.  I would be more than happy to make a copy of the position you might have an interest in learning more about.  Please consider taking an active role in one of our many leadership positions.  We are set for the upcoming year, but we would like to be prepared for the next year.  We can never plan too soon!  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me or any of our adult leaders.

We have a great camping schedule for this year, so I hope you can attend as many as possible.  These are always great times for the boys and their families! Our hiking season looks to be on a great start too!  We had a great time at the Potowatomi hike and I am sure the boys will enjoy earning their nature hiking patches.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone tonight and I wish us a successful and fun-filled year!

Yours in Scouting,

Frank Perino, Cubmaster

When I decided to become Cubmaster two years ago, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into; but I did know that it was for the benefit of the boys and that is all that really matters.  Sure, being a busy father of four, I was concerned that I would have problems keeping the Pack going, but I knew I had to live by our motto:  “Do Your Best”.  I encourage every parent to get involved.  It takes many volunteers to do all the many jobs, big and small, in order to make the pack go.  We are a team, a family, and will get it done together.  Thank you to all that helped me along the way.

As I say goodbye to the pack for now, I hope that the boys will have lasting memories of their Cub Scout days etched in their minds and some day share this opportunity with their sons.   I want to thank every scout and parent for making Pack 372 the best!  The Pack 372 Family will always have a special place in my heart!  We will miss these days and will remember them as we move forward.
